From Lazy to Super Productive – Tap your Morning

Do you feel you are lazy, tired, unfocussed, Brain Fogged and possibly depressed at times or most of the time? You feel your health, house, studies, career (job or your own gig) and relationship are all in mess or not good.

Although, you want to bring a positive change to your life but not sure where and how to start? If this describes your current situation then most probably you are trying to improve it, that could explain why you are here reading this post.

If you google the title above you will get almost couple of hundred if not thousand articles, but I will try to make it very unique and simple for you to bring that positive change in your life. Again, there is no magic pill here, but some proven old but effective methods to bring positive change in your life.

Let’s get to the reality first, how your morning normally looks like? Do you force yourself out of bed every morning? Do you feel tired super tired at times when you are out of bed, you need a strong dose of caffeine (coffee or tea) to get your started for the day? Accordingly, rest of your day mostly goes in a reactive than proactive mode where mostly you react to a particular circumstance or situation than creating your own circumstances and situations?

There is a famous quote:
“Create your own circumstances else circumstances will create you.”

If I can guess correctly then most probably, as of now, it’s circumstances that are shaping your life.

Well, then how to take control of the circumstances? Goal should be to reach to a point where you can create your own circumstances. Example being: rather than forcing yourself out of bed every morning you look forward to wake up fully energized and ready for the day. Instead of a cup of coffee or tea you choose a glass or two of fresh water.

Also, if you wake up in a reactive way, remember dragging yourself out of bed, then 99% of the time your day will be spent in a reactive way where you will always be running behind the stuff be its reaching to destination, attending a meeting, picking or dropping kids to school or an activity etc. And at the end of the day you will feel like a loser, low on self-esteem etc.

Enough of negativism here, can you please share some tips or should I leave from this page? Hold on, good stuff is on the way my friend, have some patience 🙂 , I need to make sure we diagnose the right symptoms else you know what I mean 🙂

Now the question is how to bring that magic change that can help you from being lazy to become super productive.

The magic change I am talking about is not that complex, it’s straight forward but consists of few steps as mentioned below. Thumb rule for any productivity hack is if you take control of your morning routine then you will automatically take control of your day which ultimately will take control of your whole life. Isn’t that sound so simple? It does but there are few complexities we need to solve when we are taking control of our morning as at times lot of variables (unwanted) come to picture that might put off your morning routine.

Let’s solve the mysteries one at a time below.

1) Wake up early
2) MOST IMPORTANT: Follow the same morning routine every morning even if you wake up bit late on a day

Caution: Only read below once you have gone through above two important topics, just skim through them to get a quick idea.

If you follow the above steps religiously then within two weeks you will see a big change in you, but the condition is don’t miss a single day of your morning routine. You will be in full control of your day. You will notice that now you are getting time for almost everything that is important for you be its’ health, house chores, your relationships etc.

Your life will be on proactive mode for rest of the day than reactive mode the way it used to be before this new and positive change in your life. You will get more time for your personal and professional goals, you will spend more time with your family and friends, basically you will have time for almost everything you want to do in your life.

Step back a bit to analyze why this new change is bringing so much positivity, energy and discipline to your daily life? We all heard about the phrase

“Early to bed and early to rise,
makes a person healthy, wealthy and wise”

but I was curious to find out why? So, I did some more exploration and study, noticed almost 80-90% of the most successful people are/were early risers. WHY? WHY? WHY?

After lot of research and self-experimentation I learnt that the blue light (blue sky I mean 🙂 ) that’s outside in the early morning gives you a natural energy boost it’s as simple as that, no caffeine required trust me on that. “Blue light turns off melatonin production and turns on wakefulness”. That’s why early morning walk is of utmost importance.

You need to go outside after you wake up, doesn’t matter what’s the weather is be its rainy, cloudy, snowy. Try to find a way to get over the excuses of not going out if you really want to be super productive for rest of your life else you will keep on struggling.

I also learnt that early morning time just before or close to sunrise is called “Brahma muhurta” in yogic language, basically it means “sacred time” or “creator’s hour.”

According to the International Journal of Yoga and Allied Sciences, during the “Brahma muhurta” or pre-dawn period, atmosphere is filled with nascent oxygen which when mixed with hemoglobin (ours 🙂 ) produces oxyhemoglobin which has benefits as listed below:

  • Increases energy level
  • Boosts the immune system

Now we have also looked at scientific facts that directly relates our increased energy levels with early mornings.

Math is pretty straight forward here now, if you have more energy you can do more things 🙂 . People around you will notice a significant change in you, they will notice you are in full charge of your life, you are proactively taking actions be at home, office or wherever you are. You will be cracking your goals one after another within no time.

If you remain consistent for a month, which you will be as I think I have shared enough material on how to champion your morning routine, your life will change forever. If you still have any question send me a question via the comments, I will be more than happy to guide you through.

If you are under impression that if I wake up early then I will sleepy throughout the day then I guess above practically proven theories should give you enough data to give early mornings a try for at least two weeks, and then you should gauge if something changed positively or not. Trust me your life will take 180 degrees turn once you become early riser, this is the surest path of becoming a super productive person.

Till next time give early mornings a try!
